Kata Bohl is a Hungarian-German writer-director based in London.
Raised in Budapest, she began her filmmaking practice across independent film sets, documentaries, and experimental projects, working in multiple roles from cinematography to directing and assisting filmmakers within the Hungarian film scene.
A graduate of the London Film School, her films reflect a cross-cultural perspective grounded in Central European sensibilities. As a writer-director, she is drawn to the intersection of superstition and modern life.
Her short film NINA (2023) screened at the Oscar-qualifying Friss Hús Film Festival.
Her graduation film FOG, produced by Forcodes Productions and Cinesuper, is currently in post-production. Built around atmosphere, water, and myth, FOG constructs a sensory world that questions how much control we have over our future, our bodies, and the stories we believe.
Kata is currently working as Director’s Assistant to Oscar-nominated director Duke Johnson on the animated feature LINCOLN IN THE BARDO, starring Tom Hanks.
